We’re partnering with a respected planning consultancy to hire an Urban Planner for their Brisbane office. Perfect for someone with ~4–5 years in local government who’s ready to step into client-facing consulting, broaden project exposure, and help shape a tight, values-led team.
The role
  • Run end-to-end statutory planning tasks: due diligence, lodgements, assessment responses, and post-approval conditions.
  • Prepare high-quality planning reports, submissions and advice for mixed-use, residential, commercial and precinct projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, councils, consultants and community stakeholders; attend meetings and manage timelines.
  • Contribute to strategy, proposals and fee scopes as you grow; mentor juniors as the team scales.
You’ll bring
  • 4–5 years in a Queensland council (development assessment or strategic planning).
  • Strong grasp of the Planning Act 2016 (QLD) , SDAP , and local planning schemes (e.g., BCC City Plan).
  • Clear written communication, confident stakeholder engagement, and a collaborative working style.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban/Regional Planning (or related). PIA membership welcomed.
Why it’s attractive
  • Consulting step-up: direct client exposure, diverse private-sector work, and visible impact.
  • Growth office: help shape process, culture and delivery as the Brisbane team expands.
  • Supportive culture: low-ego, outcomes-focused; regular mentoring and CPD support.
  • Competitive salary package, plus pathway to Senior and beyond.
